Five Connectors to Add Before You Use Claude Code

One line of text each. They let Claude Code look things up, read websites, use a browser, see your site's numbers and reach your other apps. Three of the five cost nothing to try.

Out of the box, Claude Code can only work with the files on your computer — it cannot search the web, open a browser or look inside your other apps. So you become the go-between: you search, copy the page, paste it in, check the result in your browser, read your own analytics and type the numbers back. A connector (the technical name is an MCP server) gives Claude Code one of those abilities, and each one removes a trip. This covers five: Perplexity for live web search, Firecrawl for reading any page as clean text, Playwright for a browser it can click through, PostHog for your real visitor numbers, and Composio for Gmail, Slack and a thousand other apps. Each has its install line, what it needs, and a first thing to ask.

What's inside

  • The exact line to paste for each of the five, and a prompt to try it with
  • Which two are free with no account — the ones to add first
  • Perplexity needs a paid API key, billed per use and separate from a Pro subscription
  • How to check they are connected, remove one, and stay in control of what they do
